Construction Labourer

Job Location: Various locations in the Calgary region. The employer provides transportation to work sites.
Wage: $28/hour (Salary increase as per company policy).
Employment terms and conditions: Seasonal Employment, Full-time, 40 to 72 hours per week (hours are weather-dependent), Overtime, Early morning, Morning, Day, Weekend

Job requirements:
Language: Basic English
Experience: 2 seasons of related experience
Worksite environment: Outdoors, Noisy, All weather conditions
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
Work conditions and physical capabilities: Able to work long hours (8-12 hours/day, 5-6 days/week), Attention to detail, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads
(Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)), Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Ability to distinguish between colours, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling
Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Organized, Reliability, Team player
Duties:
- Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
- Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete
- Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and help in other activities
- Assist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during irrigation and drainage system installation
- Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
- Assist in demolishing existing structures using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
- Remove rubble and other debris at sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
- Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
- Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, such as mixers, compressors and pumps
- Lay fieldstone paths and interlocking brick
- Assist in the construction of ornamental ponds, fountains, and waterfalls
- Assist in the construction of retaining walls and rock gardens
- Assist with paving stone patios and walkways
- Assist in the construction of wood, steel, and chain-link fences
- May be required to assist with planting and moving trees
- Understand and follow the Landform Safety Program
- Be equipped and able to work in all weather conditions
