What Are We Looking For?

Position Overview
This position is responsible for building relationships with corporations, community organizations, and individuals to grow our donor pipeline and support all areas of revenue, including sponsorship, third-party fundraising, volunteering, and potential partnerships. The Associate contributes to community engagement by attending and representing The Inn at events, developing outreach initiatives, and cultivating new supporters to advance the organization’s mission.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Support the day-to-day activities of the Community Engagement team to strengthen Inn from the Cold’s presence in Calgary.
  • Conduct outreach and cold calling to corporations, businesses, and community groups to build new relationships and secure support.
  • Actively represent The Inn at community events, presentations, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Assist in developing and growing revenue through third-party events by engaging new donors and groups.
  • Build and steward a donor and stakeholder pipeline that supports sponsorships, third-party fundraising, volunteer engagement, and potential partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to engage corporations and community organizations in volunteerism, fundraising, and event participation.
  • Provide support for community engagement initiatives and events (e.g., INNfluence Gala, Steps to End Homelessness, Open House & Santa’s Gift Shop etc.).

 

This position description reflects the general duties of the role but is not intended to include all duties that may be inherent in the position. The Community Engagement Associate may be asked to perform other duties as required or assigned.

 

What You Bring to Our Mission

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in community engagement, business, communications, public relations, fundraising, or a related field.
  • One to three years of professional community engagement, fundraising, donor relations, or corporate outreach experience is preferred, although a new graduate will be considered.
  • Proven aptitude with Microsoft Office365 and donor management software such as Raiser’s Edge (or similar CRM).
  • Familiarity with event support, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development considered an asset.
  • Comfort with public speaking, networking, and building new relationships through outreach and cold calling.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
