Description
The Cultural Helper supports the healing journey of clients by providing Indigenous cultural teachings, ceremonies, and traditional practices that strengthen Poundmaker’s Lodge’s addictions treatment program.
Key Duties

Create and maintain a culturally grounded environment.

Plan and lead ceremonies such as Sweat Lodge, Pipe Ceremony, Cultural Teachings, Round Dances, and Completion Ceremonies.

Support Elders and care for ceremonial spaces, materials, and cultural items.

Offer cultural presentations and weekly orientation for new clients.

Provide spiritual support or one-to-one counselling when needed, while maintaining professional boundaries.

Work alongside counsellors to address client needs and ensure cultural perspectives are included.

Follow all policies, safety procedures, and accreditation standards.

Report concerns and participate in staff meetings and shift exchanges.

Ensure the grounds are spiritually safe and assist with emergency protocols.

Represent Poundmaker’s Lodge in cultural presentations when requested.
