About the Employer: We are a physician-owned and operated family medicine clinic that provides comprehensive medical care to promote the physical and mental well-being of our patients. We have an on-site pharmacy and are affiliated with the Southside Primary Care Network, which offers a range of services, including a behavioural health consultant for psychological distress, an in-house dietitian and nurse, and allied health care professional services to promote the well-being of patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.

Serving the population of the Tamarack and adjacent neighbourhoods located in SE, Edmonton

Wage: $250,000 to $350,000 per year (Fee for Service)

  • Physicians will work independently as contractors and bill patients directly for non-insured services and the Government of Alberta directly through billing codes defined by Alberta Health.
  • Physician’s payment will be subject to 22% overhead deductions (to a maximum of $6,600) for billable services (including AHCIP, Private, WCB Claims, IRCC claims, etc.).
  • Physicians’ income can be directly paid to the physician as a contractual payment in person or to the physician’s corporation.

  • Rotating on-call after hours and weekends between physicians

Job requirements:

Language: English

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Equivalent
  • Must hold a valid unrestricted CPSA Permit

Experience: 1 to 2 years

Other Requirements: Valid Canadian Medical Protective Associate Insurance

Work setting/area of work:

  • Family Medicine Clinic offering primary care to Albertans
  • Office-based acute and chronic care
  • Serving a total population of approximately 40-50,000 people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, comprised entirely of urban inhabitants
  • Anticipated Panel Size: 700-900 per physician
  • Patients include Infants to geriatrics
  • 58:42 male-to-female patient ratio

Personal Equipment Required:

  • Cell Phone
  • Personal medical equipment (e.g. stethoscope, otoscope) and any specialty tools not usually provided by the clinic.

Duties:

  • Offering comprehensive primary care services to patients in Alberta under the regulation of CPSA (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta).
    • Collecting medical information from patients, family members or other medical professionals.
    • Examining patients’ health conditions to identify diseases and injuries
    • Help patients develop health habits, break old habits and reshape their approach to wellness
    • Order laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment
    • Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
    • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
    • Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases
    • Advise patients on health care
    • Coordinate or manage primary patient care
    • Provide acute care management
    • Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
    • Be a patient advocate
    • Supervise staff
  • Be available at reasonable times for their patients to provide care and ensure gaps in care are covered through fellow associates and/or Locum physicians.
