Position Summary:

Poundmaker’s Lodge Treatment Centres is seeking a Casual Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support client care and medication services. The LPN is responsible for the safe administration, documentation, and management of client medications in accordance with physician orders, organizational policies, and professional standards of practice.

This casual role offers flexible hours and supports a multidisciplinary team within a culturally grounded treatment environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and dispense medications as prescribed, following all safety protocols.
• Accurately document medication administration and dispensing.
• Store, secure, and monitor medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Ensure accountability for medications during ordering, receiving, administration, and shift changes.
• Communicate with the preferred pharmacy regarding prescriptions, refills, and medication concerns.
• Act as a liaison between Poundmaker’s Lodge Treatment Centres and the pharmacy.
• Submit new client prescriptions and coordinate medication refills.
• Enter, update, and maintain client medication records in databases and client files.
• Safely dispose of restricted or unused medications according to policy.
• Prepare and organize medications for clients transitioning out of treatment.
• Demonstrate proper infection prevention and control practices.
• Communicate medication changes with Addiction Counsellors and relevant staff.
• Attend staff meetings, training, and accreditation‑related activities as required.
• Follow organizational policies, professional codes of conduct, and ethical standards.
• Identify and immediately report any inappropriate or unethical behaviour involving staff or clients.
• Support and adhere to Canadian Accreditation Council standards and processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing with the applicable regulatory body.
• Experience in medication administration and documentation.
• Ability to work casual day, evening and/or overnight shifts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional and respectful communication skills.
• Knowledge of infection control and medication safety practices.
