We are looking for a Site Manager to join our Performance Materials (PM) team in Blackie, Alberta.

The Performance Materials division is at the forefront of the much-needed sustainability transformation in plastics. Our experts co-create products with customers to bring innovations to major industry sectors such as transportation, consumer goods, industrial applications, and construction. These solutions contribute to a sustainable future by pushing the boundaries in thermal resistance, robustness and lightweight applications.

We are seeking a professional like you to provide leadership, direction, and focus for all manufacturing activities at our Blackie, AB site. This includes leadership for a broad range of activities including EH&S, Operations (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Shipping and Receiving), Operational Excellence, Technical, and all capital projects necessary to support Performance Materials (PMN) growth plans. In addition, you will ensure that processes and activities comply with BASF policies, Canadian regulations and our values for safety, quality, environmental and financial stewardship.

As a Site Manager, you create chemistry by...

  • Being responsible for all aspects of operating a stand-alone site in BASF accountable and responsible for the regulatory, fiscal, legal, environmental compliance and operational integrity of the site team and daily operations.
  • Leading and directing the site team to achieve the operational plan commitment for the site, in terms of quality, speed, cost & EH&S to meet the BASF strategy.
  • Developing and implementing manufacturing and asset strategies to ensure assets and spending are aligned with business strategies that ensure technology transfers are issue-free; as well as provide for reliable & flexible product availability while maximizing asset utilization.
  • Developing team members to reach their full potential.
  • Participating in country, regional and global initiatives and discussions, sharing and implementation of best practices, technology exchanges, supply chain initiatives and other such topics.
  • Representing BASF Canada at times in communications and contact with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal District representatives.

If you have...

  • A BS Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in a chemical, petrochemical or other manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the critical success areas of EH&S, cost reduction, quality improvement, cycle time reduction, asset optimization, and application of current and developing technologies and manufacturing trends.
  • Effective communication skills and successful track record for creating continuous improvements in culture, facilities and technology.
