Position Overview
PKF Antares is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our Calgary office. This internship provides hands-on experience in public practice and is ideal for students pursuing a career in accounting or working toward their CPA designation.
As part of our Accounting team, you will gain exposure to diverse client engagements while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with bank and account reconciliations
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes
- Assist in preparing financial statements and working papers
- Support month-end and year-end close procedures
- Assist with GST filings and basic tax return preparation (T1/T2)
- Communicate with clients as required under supervision
- Perform bookkeeping and general accounting support tasks
- Provide administrative and ad-hoc support to the accounting team
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a post-secondary program in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Interest in pursuing a CPA designation is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and basic data analysis)
- Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, CaseWare, Profile, Xero) is an asset
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or co-op experience is considered an asset
