Community Futures Treaty Seven
TREATY SEVEN POST-SECONDARY
EMPLOYMENT SYMPOSIUM
February 18 & 19, 2026
Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre
Community Futures Treaty 7 (CFT7) is proud to present the 8th Annual Treaty 7 Post-Secondary Employment Symposium, a two-day event designed to connect Indigenous post-secondary students with employers hiring for summer positions related to students’ academic fields across Treaty 7 Territory and the city.
This annual symposium serves as a direct pathway between students actively seeking paid summer employment and career-relevant experience and employers looking to recruit emerging talent. Through structured engagement, cultural learning, and relationship-building, the event supports meaningful hiring outcomes while fostering respectful, long-term partnerships.
STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Meet directly with employers who are recruiting for summer positions
Explore paid summer employment opportunities aligned with their education and career goals
Participate in speed interviews and hiring conversations
Learn from Elders and community leaders
Build professional confidence, networks, and workplace readiness
EMPLOYERS WILL GAIN:
Direct access to Indigenous post-secondary students seeking summer employment
Opportunities to recruit students for field-related, entry-level, and career-pathway roles
A deeper understanding of Treaty 7 Territory, its history, and cultural protocols
Insight into building culturally respectful and inclusive workplaces
Meaningful relationships grounded in respect, learning, and collaboration
The symposium is guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, whose presence ensures the event is rooted in Indigenous teachings, protocols, and community values, creating a welcoming and respectful environment for both students and employers.
