Description
The Health Care Aide provides essential clinical and supportive care to clients at Poundmaker’s Lodge Treatment Centres, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being throughout treatment. Working under the direction of nursing staff, the role involves administering and managing medications in accordance with physician orders and organizational policies, while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols such as the Five Rights of medication administration.
This position supports client care by monitoring health status, obtaining vital signs, assisting with admissions and discharges, and documenting accurate clinical information. The Health Care Aide collaborates closely with counselors, nurses, and the broader care team to communicate changes in client condition and support treatment plans.
In addition to clinical duties, the role emphasizes client advocacy, confidentiality, and maintaining professional boundaries. The Health Care Aide also contributes to a safe and secure environment by following infection control practices, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with facility rules and accreditation standards.
